Beware of Scams!

Updated: May 11, 2019

As the market leader, AR Cannabis Clinic was sure to have copy cats enter the space. Recently, we have seen some companies from out of state advertising in Arkansas that look suspect to say the least. At AR Cannabis Clinic, we feel a responsibility to inform our patients and fellow Arkansans to be careful with your personal health information, and your money. Without naming names and linking to the questionable websites, we wanted to point out things to look out for. If you find a website claiming they include the $50 state filing fee in their fee, that's highly likely a scam. There is no legal way that we know of for a third party to pay your state filing fee on your behalf. Furthermore, it is not legal by Arkansas law for anyone to apply for a marijuana card on your behalf unless they are your certified caretaker. Unless these companies from out of state are filing caretaker applications for you, and are planning to drive to the dispensary and buy your medicine for you, that's a scam. Websites that promise that you can speak to a doctor via Skype or telemedicine software are likely a scam, or at least are a scam in Arkansas. Arkansas law is very clear that certifying physicians must perform an "in-person" examination of all patients they are certifying for medical marijuana. It may be legal in other states but as for Arkansas, telemedicine certifications are NOT legal. Basically, stay away from companies that do not have a physical clinic in Arkansas. Furthermore, doctors operating from inside a dispensary or in partnership with a dispensary are NOT legal. There are strict federal laws preventing doctors from self-referring patients to buy medicines from a pharmacy or dispensary the doctor has a financial interest in, and this includes kick-backs. Also, beware of physicians who use the term "prescription" or "recommendation" because they show they do not understand the Arkansas law and therefore you might reconsider giving them your personal health information and your money. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list of warning signs, but includes some of the more obvious ones. AR Cannabis Clinic is committed to leading the industry with best practices and service and we hope to earn your business. If you have a qualifying condition and are interested in exploring whether medical marijuana is right for you, give us a call at 888-454-2111. We are conveniently located at 1121 S. Bowman Rd in West Little Rock. We hope to see you soon!
